Tummy Time

Cason has his two week appointment earlier this week and he is doing great! He is 8 lbs. 8 oz. now and has grown 1/2 an inch. And I'm also excited to say that the Dr. said I no longer need to wake up every three hours in the night to feed him! So happy about that...until Cason woke me up every three hours to eat anyway...sigh. Oh well, give it more time. He's getting quite the little belly as well as chubby little cheeks, which I am very much in love with! Also the Dr. said now that he is at 2 weeks that I need to start giving him tummy time. So I've been putting him on my tummy and he does really well. He is already picking up his head and moving it to the other side...although some times he gets it stuck with his face right on the floor and can't figure out what to do from there.
He's so cute and so much fun! Travis and I are just loving him! We feel so blessed having him in our lives.

Changes

Now that we have a cute little newborn I feel like I actually have something to blog about...well, at least cute pictures to post. Enjoy! :)
Trav is such a proud Daddy. He races home every day now from work and waits so patiently while I finish feeding him so that he can take him for his wake time. He loves to hold his hand and we both just stare at Cason and try to grab his attention as he stares past us thinking of...heaven probably.
One of Halloween outfits and one of my favorites :)Maestro stuck out his paw yesterday afternoon when we were just hanging out so I helped Cason give him a high-five :)

I totally forgot!

So I can't believe that I am just remembering this because I meant for it to be one of my first posts back from the hospital. On our second day in the hospital this lady walks in with all this camera equipment and says "I'm here to take pictures of your baby." I was confused why she was there but I guess it was just something between the place she worked for and the hospital. Anyway she took a couple of pictures of Cason and they are adorable! You can check them out here.

Cason's (and my) first bath

First off let me just say thank you for all your kind comments from my last post. Travis had all of last week off of work and we had a great time spending so much with each other and with Cason. Alas, all good things come to an end though and we are back to the real life. Travis is back to work and I am at home fulfilling my duty as a stay-at-home Mom. Yep, life is good.

So last week Travis showed me how to give our little guy a bath. Cason did great! I had prepared myself for high-pitched screams and a lot of wiggling but he did niether. At first he didn't like the cold wash cloth- But then I guess he decided that he didn't mind all that much and he calmed down-He most definitely did not enjoy the shampooing process-But kinda enjoyed the rinsing-Trav and I had a good time styling his hair and trying to figure out what to do with it all. Here we put it in a little mohawk, the curls just kill me-I love them!Once we got him all clean we wrapped him in this little robe to help warm him up, which we both thought made him look like a Jedi-I dried his hair with the hood of the robe and when I took it off....ta-da!

Nothing but the cutest curls you ever saw! I'm looking forward to when I can add just a bit of gel to these curls to help them stay. I am in love with them!

The details

So as many of you know Cason came to us 10 days early! What a blessing. At my Dr.'s appointment on Thursday he checked to see how far along I was and I was already at a four! He told me that I would most likely be havin the baby in the next 24 hours. And sure enough-that night the contractions started. Around eight or so they were coming but very irregular. By midnight I wasn't getting much sleep. By 1:00 they were about 7 minutes apart and by 2:00 they were about 3/4 minutes apart and quite painful. By 2:30 I couldn't take it anymore and so we headed to the hospital. The Dr. checked me and I was at a 7. so they got me all ready and gave me my epidural-so amazing. I highly recommended the epidural for those of you that are curious. From there we waited for my water to break and a couple hours later we learned that Cason was using it for a pillow! But as the Dr. checked me later he ended up breaking it himself and so they all got ready for the baby to come. It was about ten hours of later with 45-50 minutes of pushing and then Cason was here! It was a great delivery and I couldn't be happier with how smoothly it all went. Cason weighed in at 7 lbs. and 7 oz. and 20.5 inches long. He looks just like his Daddy with his ears, nose, chin, and dark curls and has my blue eyes and long hair. He is beautiful and we are so grateful and feel truly blessed to have him in our lives now. Enjoy all the pics! Oh, and I expect lots of comments saying how cute he is! :) Thank you all so much for your love, support, and your prayers.
Here's our first family picture-Here's his cute toes-I love them.

Our favorites-

I am feeling so huge! I know I might not look it but I struggle with getting off the couch and out of the car. And I'm super sad the weather no longer permits me to wear my sandals! Poor Maestro not only has to wait for me to bundle up but an extra five minutes just for me to put on my socks and my shoes! I am down to just two weeks and Travis and I are so excited! We're hoping he comes early just because we're so excited but we're both feeling that he's going to come late...we're excited to see what happens!

So I promised more maternity pictures-here are some more of a favorites. These were all done by my good friend Tanelle Wilburn, here is her website, http://www.lindquistphoto.com. She was so much fun to work with and did such a great job! Thanks again Tanelle! Here's some more great pictures that were taken by a girl that Travis works with, Melanie Parry. Unfortunately her website is still in the works but I'll keep you posted once she gets it up and running.

Thank you so much Tanelle and Melanie for helping Trav and I capture such a precious time in our lives!
